Lab Equipment Categories

Lab apparatus are classified into different categories depending on usage. Our experts on laboratory supplies in Orlando offer the following types of lab equipment.

Labeling- This product is used to identify different specimens and apparatus in the lab.

Analytical instruments- These are most commonly used in research labs to analyze various compounds and matters. Instrument examples include calorimeter, colorimeter, conductivity meters, balances, Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy, High-Performance Liquid Chromatography, and more.

Imaging systems-These produce images of objects by light onto sensitive surfaces like films.

Laboratory glassware- lab materials designed for transferring, measuring, pipetting, storage, and preparing reagents. They include flasks, bottles, beakers, condensers/distillation, funnels, test tubes, vials, and glass washers/dryers.

Spectroscopy- This involves the study of the interaction of light and matter. Instruments used include AAS, X-ray analytical, molecular spectroscopy, ultraviolet spectroscopy, and infrared spectroscopy.

Clinical lab equipment- These are generally used in clinical labs like hospitals. They include cell counters, coagulation analyzers, hematology analyzers, blood/gas analyzers, chemistry analyzers.

Chromatography- A technique used for separating and identifying components of a mixture.

Microscopes- Instruments used for magnifying small objects. The five categories include inverted, stereo, compound, polarizing, and metallurgical microscopes.

Centrifuges- Devices used to separate gas, fluids, or liquid-based on their density. This process is completed by spinning a material inside a vessel at high speed, allowing centrifugal force to separate the higher density materials to the outside of the vessel.

Histology/Pathology equipment- Tools that assist with examining and repairing tissues like embedding stations, tissue processors, cover slippers, slide stainers, and cryostat.

Lab enclosures and fume hoods- These are designed for lab contamination prevention of fumes and gases created through chemical reactions.

Laboratory supplies include apparel, gloves, lab coats, cuvettes, chemicals, lamps, labels, filtration supplies, and plasticware.

Laboratory pumps- Displacement and entrapment pumps are the main two types of lab pumps.

Biotech/Life science- includes processes like capillary electrophoresis, osmometers, DNA synthesizers, electrophysiology, electrophoresis, and electroporation.

Vacuum equipment- These are primarily used in welding, pumping water, food preservation, applied sterilization, the manufacturing of cathodes, and many more. Vacuum parts include filters, pumps, gauges, and valves.

General lab equipment- They include centrifuges, baths/circulators, block digesters, desiccators, cryogenics, Environmental Growth Chambers, freezers, flowmeters, furnaces, and fume hoods.

Reagents/Antibodies- These are cytokines, like cell culture media, biochemicals, and enzymes.

High-Performance Liquid Chromatography- This instrument detects minute solvents and separates various chemical mixtures. Its parts include an injector, a pump, column, computer analyzer, and detector.

Microplate equipment- This lab instrument is used to measure biological, chemical, or physical reactions, analytes, and properties within a microplate’s well. A microplate is made up of small wells where separated reactions are conducted.

Gas Chromatography- This instrument is used for measuring parts per billion concentration for a gaseous sample and the mole of substances in a liquid sample. Instrument parts include the column, gas section, detector, and sample injector.

It is important to note that not every one of these apparatuses is used in every lab. Contact us today for laboratory supplies in Orlando.
